The verdict is in....

So, as many of you know our ultrasound was on Friday. John had the day off and was adamant that we wouldn't be finding out. I was ready to have the tech write down the gender and seal it in an envelope for us to take home and argue over some more and then hopefully open and find out! Even the midwife was advocating for me to find out! Her guess was a girl. John kept saying firmly that we wouldn't find out.

So we got to the ultrasound and after they got me all situated with towels so that the gel wouldn't get on my clothes, she looked at me and asked if we were finding out. I turned to John and said, "John ARE we finding out today what this little one is?" He looked at me, gave me a goofy grin and said, "yup!!" My mom was there and she had Aidan on her lap. She and I squealed when John said that we could find out!! Makenna who was on John's lap, laughed, and Aidan I think was confused.

So I was anxious to get started obviously!! The tech asked Aidan what was in my belly. He said a sister. He consistently says sister whenever we ask. Literally 99.9% of the time he says girl. It's really cute. Makenna and her sister both say sister too even most everyone I talk to says girl. So we videotaped the entire appointment. About an hour long. It was great!! So here are pictures of our sweet babe!!

Sucking the thumb!

So, finally we got to the good part....the ultrasound tech was focused on a certain area a bit more than she had been on other areas. I was about to ask if the area we were looking at were the certain parts that we wanted to look at. The tech beat me to it and said, that she had been looking for a bit and that she was fairly confident. She then said, "I think Aidan was right, I think he is going to have a sister!" We all were so overjoyed!! We can't wait!! I can't wait to buy all that pink!! I already bought 3 outfits and 1 blanket this weekend at Macy's in Oregon!!! So, yes, we are still in disbelief but we are having a
GIRL!!!!!!!!
I have to have another ultrasound in a month of her because there could be complications due to the diabetes such as heart defects. But, they said her heart looked fine and that they are just doing it as a precaution screening. I don't mind, I get to see my baby girl and I get to make sure there is nothing wrong with her!! WE are so excited. The neonatologist even confirmed that to her it looked as if we were having a girl!!!! Hooray!!! Just thought you would all like to know!

Tonia & Scott's wedding at the Eugene Country Club

Sunday, 8-24-08

Sunday...Tonia & Scott's wedding and a LONG car ride...

So, after we picked Aid up we headed to Oregon. We left the Boone's at 9:30am. By the time we got to Fife, we were all pretty hungry so we had a Brunch!! It was so yummy. Aidan didn't nap until late afternoon and after breakfast I zonked out. John drove. We got to Eugene around 3:30pm and headed straight to Macy's to buy the wedding gift. While we were waiting we ended up heading to the baby section to go shopping. I was able to a few things in a particular color.

So after we finished at Macy's we headed to our hotel that was about 10 minutes away. We got all checked in and in our room by 5:10pm. We needed to leave the room by 5:30pm. John and I both needed showers and to get changed and Aid needed a snack and to get changed. We were all ready to go by 5:25pm!! We left and headed to the wedding. John decided to head on a slight detour to go sightseeing of a neighborhood. Not exactly the way to the wedding but oh well. It was suppose to be only 5 minutes from our hotel. We made it though.

It was a beautiful wedding and everyone was so happy!! They were married on the 10th hole at the Eugene Country Club. We then headed inside to a lovely reception. John took Aidan over to a hotel that was 2 minutes away to play and have fun instead of trying to keep him on good behavior at the wedding. We headed headed back to the hotel after a detour to the grocery store for snacks for me. We all crashed and crashed hard. We woke up bright and early again and headed to my Grandpa's house for a very yummy breakfast. We always LOVE his breakfasts.

We then headed to get some of the best jerky ever and hit the road. Aid and I slept for about 3 hours and then we stopped for lunch. We left Eugene around noon and got to our house around 7pm. We had a few stops that took a bit longer and that's why the trip home took longer not to mention rush hour traffic. I was happy to be home and out of that darn car. I'll post pics next so enjoy them!! Hope you enjoyed our weekend. It was crazy but FUN!!!

HS reunion Night 2

Ok, again no pics. Sorry. We are lame I know. Anyhoo, We had a busy day on Saturday. I had a training in the morning in Bellevue and didn't get home until about 1pm. I then treated myself to a pedicure. I can't get enough of those!! I just love them!!! So now my toes look so good again!! It had been about 5-6 weeks since the last pedi. We took Aidan to the Boone's house for his FIRST sleepover with someone other than my mom or John's parents!! Thanks guys at putting up with our little man!! He had a blast and can't wait to do something like this again. Whenever you need someone to have the girls spend the night....

So then we headed to Seattle. The second night was at Jillians in Seattle. Its a billiards club. They had a dinner which was ok. Not my favorite but then again I am pretty picky while prego. I was really digging the veggies though. YUM!!! I met a few new people and John was all over talking to everyone and anyone that he remembered. I mostly hung out with other people that I already knew. Occasionally he would come and check in with me to make sure I was doing ok and not getting upset with him for leaving me to fend for myself. I didn't really care though because it was his reunion and I knew he was enjoying himself immensely. The party was from 7-11pm but most everyone stayed later because they opened the part we had reserved up to everyone in the club.

We ended up leaving around 1am and had to come home and do some laundry, pack our bags and go to bed. I think we fell asleep around 2am. LONG night for myself. We still had to be up at 7:15am to pick up Aidan by 8:45am. So off to bed for us!

Redhook Brewery...10-year HS Reunion Night 1

Ok, so the first day of the reunion was fun!! John and I dropped off Aidan at the in-law's house and headed to Redhook Brewery. It was a bit crazy finding a parking spot because of a concert at the winery across the street! We parked in a painted over handicapped spot so it was technically no longer a handicapped spot. We ended up getting dinner there. I was STARVING!!!

As many of you already know, we had a busy day. I worked that morning, we went to the farm with Makenna and Aidan (John was off work that day). After lunch and a VERY short nap we headed to Evergreen Hospital where we met with my midwives. The midwife we saw that day even put her guess in for what our bundle of joy was going to be. Her guess was girl. So after this we headed to the cafeteria for a quick bite (I didn't eat lunch with the kids) and then to my ultrasound appointment. After the ultrasound I had to get my blood drawn, and then we headed home and waited for Alexa to pick up Makenna!! We headed to the in-laws then. Oh and Thursday evening was a wedding for a good friend of mine. Busy week.

So we made it and John had been saying that we didn't need to go that night and we would be fine going on Saturday only. I insisted and turns out he was happy I did. He thoroughly enjoyed himself not to mention that he had a few yummy beers. We missed the tour but that's ok. It's not like we don't live 15 minutes from Redhook. So we were there until about 10:30pm. I was exhausted because I had been up since 5am and didn't have a nap. I also had a training the next morning and was being picked up at 8am so I needed sleep. We also still had to pick up Aidan. So we headed to pick up Aid and then home. It was nice to get some sleep. It was going to be a crazy weekend!!

John ended up having a great time hanging out and catching up with people he hasn't seen in 10 years and was very happy that I pushed him to go. We forgot to take photos both nights though. Boo. That will change when it is my reunion in 2 years!

Just a reminder....

Ok people, tomorrow is the day!! It's our ULTRASOUND!! I am so excited to see who is kicking me and moving around inside my belly. I have been feeling a LOT more movement in the last few days. Its been a lot of fun!! John is STILL adamant that we are not finding out but I think I might have the U/S tech write it down and put it in an envelope and we can do that and argue some more and hopefully I win!!

Everyone needs to convince John that we want to find out! I LOVED not knowing with Aidan but this pregnancy has been so far that I want to find out. Not that that makes the symptoms any better but still it would be nice to connect and also nice to help Aidan get excited about a baby brother or sister. He says sister 99.9% of the time so we'll see if my little boy is right or wrong. I figure we only have 20 more weeks until we find out for certain if we don't find out tomorrow but I don't want to wait another 20 weeks!!

Keep your fingers crossed for finding out and for a girl!! I really want some excuse to bring a ton of pink or purple in the apartment!!!!!! Either way as long as baby is healthy I'm happy!!! Look for updates tomorrow or Monday. It's also the 10-year HS reunion weekend for John and my cousins wedding in Oregon on Sunday. So lots of updates and posts on Monday or Tuesday. Stay tuned!!!

Just hanging out taking in the day!

Ok, now that I have added pictures let me tell you about the weekend!!
FRIDAY!!! August 8th
Uncle Ryan's first day in town! Greg and Ryan met up with John and had lunch with him while John was on route. Then at 4pm they came and picked Aidan up to take out to Grandma and Grandpa's house. They played until I got there around 6:30pm or so. We ate dinner and then John FINALLY got there after he got off work and he ate. We hung out until around 10pm or so and then went home to get a good nights sleep for the BUSY weekend ahead.
Saturday, August 9th!
We hung out at home and cleaned and rested getting ready for the BBQ that Greg and Nina were hosting since Ryan was home. It was mostly Greg's family that made the BBQ and Nina's sister who lives in Kirkland. Ryan also had a buddy that he knows from grade school come with his family. Lots of kids it was rainy off and on and fun. Lots of good food too. After the BBQ I left to meet up with a few girlfriends for my friend Darcia's bachelorette party. John and Aidan stayed and they gave Aidan a bath and put him to bed. Uncle Ryan read him bedtime books and then Aidan went to bed. When I got back they were playing a card game as a family and sent me out for pizza. We ate pizza hung out and watched the end of the Mariners game. John and I then got Aidan in the car and headed home. It was around midnight I think. We were so tired.
Sunday, August 10th
BUSY DAY!!
We got up and I went to mass with my mom and Katie and her family. John went to Woodinville Alliance were he already committed to something that ended up not happening. So he and Aidan met us at the breakfast place we all went to. The 7 of us (Mom, Katie, Dave, Alexis, John, Aidan and myself) all had breakfast treated by mom!! Thanks MOM!! Then we headed down to visit Papa since this was his 2 year anniversary. We put flowers on his grave, Aidan's favorite part. The kids ran around and we all hung out as a family with Papa for a little while. We finally looked at the clock and it was 1:15pm, the time we were suppose to leave our apartment for the wedding. Oops, we didn't get to our apartment until the time that the wedding started. So I jumped in the shower quickly and got dressed. We left and got to the reception (missed the ceremony...boo) and I think we got there right after the ceremony ended. They started eating almost immediately after we got there which I was happy about since I was STARVING!!! We hung out and enjoyed seeing John's cousin Julie and her new hubby Ron along with the rest of the family. We headed home around 5:30pm and went to my mom's house where we had a BBQ with my cousins who were in town from New York. Also the other cousins/uncles in the area (Seattle area) were there too!! It was a fun potluck BBQ. After we went home and went to bed SO early it was unbelievable. Uncle Ryan also left the wedding about an hour after we got there to head back to San Diego. We sure enjoyed seeing him and can't wait to see him in December for another whirlwind trip around Christmas!!
So that was our weekend!! Hope you all enjoyed the photos and such.

Dad's 2 year annivesary....

Nana & Aidan cleaning Papa's headstone

So I since I am WAY behind on posting I didn't know where to start...I figured that I should start with my dad's 2nd anniversary. I can't believe its been 2 years already. It seems surreal that Dad has been gone that long. I feel as if I was walking through my parents garage and into the house with Aidan just yesterday to let the two of them play.

Nana, Papa & the grandkids!

The hardest thing with having him gone is knowing that my kids won't know Papa and won't have the opportunity to grow up with their Papa in their lives like I did with my grandpa's (and grandma's too). It's hard being pregnant and knowing that my dad will never meet this baby, and vice versa. He won't be walking down the L/D (Labor & Delivery) hall with a HUGE smile on his face anxious to meet the latest member of the family or being able to see my dad cuddle with the new bundle.

Aidan & I with Papa

A panaramic view of the cemetary...somehow Katie got in the photo twice!! HAHA!!!

It's hard every time I go down since I found out I was pregnant (was hard before too) because I can't help but ALWAYS think of this down there. We will make sure that baby knows Papa and knows what a wonderful man he was. Ok, onto the pictures....enjoy!! We love you Daddy and miss you more than you know!!

It was a long week or so....

So I know I promised to post pictures and a blog on Monday, but I was SO not feeling good. I even had to go see a specialist to "clear" up the issue. Not fun. I was able to take the medication that they told me to take yesterday and was sick all day and then finally by evening I felt back to my old self. Thank goodness. So, now that I am feeling better...I am now able to do the posts and picture updates that I wanted to do earlier in the week!! So enjoy and just know that I am all better and don't worry, baby is still alive and well, although I haven't been feeling that many strong kicks lately and am anxious and want to feel more of those miraculous little kicks!!! So there you have it!! Onto the better posts and the more fun posts!!

Time for another post...

So, I have been feeling pretty good overall lately. I have one pregnancy related "issue" that needs to clear up and then I will be feeling even better (if you really want to know, email me but I think it would be TMI for me to post). So, the midwives have given me a few suggestions and I am doing my best but to no avail. It's rather annoying at this point.

Anyhoo, I started my first day on 1/2 a tablet of my anti-nausea meds and we will try that for about a week and then go to every other day. So I am slowly being weaned off of them!! Let's hope it is a successful weaning process and that the morning sickness is fully gone after this.

I have been sleeping ok, I wake a lot to use the potty but that is normal. Once I use the potty it takes me awhile to get comfy enough to fall asleep so its a never ending battle. UGH!! Oh well.

My sugars are good. The fasting reading isn't though. I am suppose to call if my sugars are above 95 in the morning for 3 out of 4 days. Well today is the 4th day that they have been high. =(. I am bummed about that. I think I talked the diabetic educator gal to give me another 2 days to see if they go down. SO for nothing. I am so bummed because that means that she will put me on medication and I really don't want to be on medication. I think that part of the reason behind my high fasting readings is the unnamed issue that I have going on. I am hoping that once I resolve this issue, then my readings will go down. I hope that it gets resolved before I need to call for the medication on Friday though. The countdown is on. So keep your fingers crossed for me.

I think this is it. I know it has been forever and a day since I posted pics and I have just been lazy to be honest. I promise I will soon though. Uncle Ryan is in town late tonight through Sunday evening so I might just wait until Uncle Ryan goes home and then post all the pics of him up here and playing with Aidan!! Stay tuned though. On another random note, mom bought her tickets to fly out to Ohio in October this morning for my cousin Andy's wedding. Andy is marrying a totally fun and sweet girl named Andrea. I already feel as if she has been in our family for forever!! Oh and we got our tickets about a week or so ago. Mom was able to be on the same flights as us both ways and we even were able to choose our seats and mom is sitting with us!! We can't wait and I have my personal countdown going on!! So exciting!!! Anyhoo, I need to get Aidan in bed for naps so look for more posts after the weekend!!
