So, John and I are trying to come up with Godparents for our sweet girl. This is no easy task. We have a list of a few people that we would love to have as Godparents for her, which isn't the hard part, the hard part is we need one "practicing Catholic" and they need to provide a letter from their parish stating that they are members there and are practicing. This is new since we had Aidan, so we are having a bit of a more difficult time due to this.
When we made our Godparents list, we actually had put a few people who were Catholics (not sure if they are practicing or not) on it AND we made the list up before we found out about the "practicing Catholic" thing.
SO, my question to all my 3 blog readers..maybe 4 ; ), have you come into contact with needing one person "practicing" and/or a letter stating that they are and a member of their parish? I think John and I are almost to a decision and such, we just were wondering if other people had heard of this too!! Please leave comments letting us know!! Thanks!!

I am up WAY too late!
We weren't told anything about needing "practicing" Catholic godparents. We were required to have one Catholic godparent, and the godparents needed to be different genders. So, we have one Episcopal (Geoff) and one Catholic godparent for the girls.
However, Jessie and Melody haven't been baptized yet. It didn't end up happening during the insanity of the NICU, and Lucas and I have since decided that we want baptism to be a choice that the girls make for themselves, not one we make for them.
The church also had no issue with the fact that I'm not Catholic, as long as I committed to raising the girls Catholic and educated myself accordingly.
