7 down, 1 to go!! Weddings that is.

So, this past weekend our very wonderful friends got married in Manzanita, Oregon. Manzanita is 13 miles south of Canon Beach, Oregon. It was a no brainer to go because John and DJ (the groom) have been friends since they were in 1st grade, I believe. Monica and I have been friends since about the time that she and DJ started dating. So for about 8 years now!! They finally tied the knot on the beach and it was a very wonderful ceremony!! It was mainly family with only a handful of friends and everyone who was there had a wonderful time!! We had a little reception that was very fun too!! There was a lot of wonderful food and many wonderful desserts. Monica even asked me to make brownies that were bite-sized and cheesecake. They both were great!!
Monica has been planning this wonderful day for 6-weeks. They just figured out recently what they really wanted for their wedding and decided to go for it even though it was 2 weeks after she started the school year. I tried to help out as much as possible but there wasn't a lot that we could do to help her plan since the things that needed to get done were things she had to do. She was very happy how the wedding ended up. She was worried that it might not be all that great, but I assured her that I felt that same way before my wedding. She was worried about many things but everything was wonderful and both Monica and DJ had a WONDERFUL time and enjoyed their day very much.
Our weekend started on Friday when we dropped Aidan off at Nana's house for the weekend. She wanted him to stay with her and be her little buddy for the weekend. I think he thoroughly wore her out though. Thanks Mom!!! We really appreciate it!!! This was our first time away from Aidan ever so it was a bit weird to leave him home while we went on a vacation. We got up on Saturday and left around 5:30am. John drove and stopped for coffee, and again for breakfast at the Country Cousin in Centralia. My family would always stop there for breakfast growing up whenever we would go to Oregon. It was as delicious as we remember!! The waitress was AWESOME!!! She almost sat down with us and joined us....ok, maybe not really but she took time to comment on our Cougar gear and we chatted a bit about that. So fun.
So we ended up on the road again and I ended up asleep again....it was great!!! We got to Astoria and then I woke up!! The view that I woke up to was BEAUTIFUL!!! I was wishing that I could be on vacation for a bit longer than we were. We didn't stop longer than it took to fill the gas tank, but that was fine because we were driving through Astoria again on the way home! So as we were driving towards Seaside, John accidentally ran over something in the road which ruined our tire. It completely destroyed the inside of it to the point that it was not going to be fixed.
We didn't realize that we had a flat until we were in Seaside so we have no idea how long it was flat for. Oops, oh well. We pulled over in a little gas station and the attendant was really helpful. I asked if there was somewhere like Les Schwab anywhere between Seaside and Manzanita and the only Les Schwab was a block down the road!! Lucky stars!! So with our temporary tire on we were off to Les Schwab. They had a tire that was $30 and that was used with the same tread as on my tire. Sold, we saved $50-$80 on a tire especially since I will need new tires when we take off my studs after snow season. So we finally got to Manzanita around noon.
We had to find lunch because I was STARVING again and needed to eat. Once we finally got food and back to the car, John went to go change and found out that they had our room ready and we could check in 3 hours early!! Jackpot! He came to the car where I was finishing eating and putting on my make-up and told me that we had 7 minutes to 1pm (the wedding started at 1pm). AHHH 7 minutes to get to our room and get dressed and to the beach (which was literally right outside our room). So we threw on our clothes and walked out. We turned out to have plenty of time. Turns out Monica was frantically getting the last minute things put together too!!! She finally came out and was BEAUTIFUL!!! The day was wonderful they couldn't stop smiling (like it should be) and were finally Mr. & Mrs. DJ Peters!!! Best of luck you guys!!
We ended up hanging out the rest of the day and went to the beach a little later after the reception ended and found Monica and DJ finishing their photos!! We got to chat some more!! They finally took off to Canon Beach and we walked down to the water. Man it was cold!! My feet were instantly ice!! Oh well, it was fun. I found a sand dollar that was falling apart but still it was pretty darn cool. We grabbed a pizza, s'mores fixings, soda, snacks for later and we headed to the beach for a bonfire with DJ's family and some of Monica's family!! I had a hot dog because I didn't eat the pizza and that hot dog was so stinking good that I could have had another!! Instead I ate a ton of s'mores. So worth it!!
We were so pooped that we went back to the room early and we both crashed until 10am on Sunday. We got up cleaned up, checked out, and headed to Canon Beach. We ate at a cute little restaurant, Pig'n Pancake!! So good!! I HIGHLY recommend it!! We were going to walk around a bit but couldn't find a parking spot anywhere, but we did see the hotel where Monica & DJ were and their car. So we headed to Seaside where we stopped at the little "outlet mall" if you want to call it that. There were only a handful of stores but who cares. I bought some clothes at Osh Kosh for our little girl and I bought Aidan some shirts. We also hit up Harry & David but they didn't have any peaches yet. Bummer, instead I got some yummy peach salsa (I am not the biggest fan of salsa and this was incredible!!) We walked over and got Aid a game for doing so well while we were gone.
So we hit the road and headed home. We stopped for coffee and snacks in Astoria at the Safeway. We walked a bit but I just wanted to eat my burrito and call it good. So John walked down and saw the seals or sea lions or whatever they were that were barking up a storm. I wish I would have taken some pictures but I forgot the camera in the car. It was beautiful again though. We got home to my mom's and then got a pizza at Papa Murphys and ate dinner with my mom and learned about how Aidan's weekend went and then around 8pm we headed home. It was a long weekend. We got home got buddy to sleep and we cleaned up a bit and we both crashed too. Overall it was a wonderful weekend and a nice little break from being parents. We sure missed our little man but it was still nice. Anyhoo, if you made it to this point in our post, amazing!!! Sorry I was so long winded but I wanted to share our whole entire weekend with everyone!! Enjoy!!! Headed to the honeymoon!!
