Ok, here is your forewarning!! Don't read past this paragraph if you don't want to know to much!!! Seriously!
Ok, so at my last appointment
with my diabetic educator (same day as my ultrasound), on August 22
nd, I was told to do a urine sample and have my blood drawn. I did the blood draw but not the urine until almost a week later. I had just used the restroom right before my u/s and if anyone knows me at all I have the most
unpregnant bladder EVER!!!! So, my diabetic educator, Joni, called me last Thursday, and said she needed to discuss my latest test results.
I called her back and told her that I would either see her at my appointment the next day or she could call me back. It was her choice. She said it was no problem to discuss it the next day. So at my appointment I sat down and she looked me in the eye and said, "I have something 'fun' for you to do for 24 hours." NOT!!!! I was like
ok.....so, what did I need to do??
Joni explained that I had
protein in my urine and for those who know anything about being
prego, we all know that this isn't always a good thing. Although its usually linked to
BP (blood pressure) my
BP that day was 110/60. So she was baffled by the fact that my
BP was fine and I had
protein in my urine. Joni said there were two reason's she could think of why. 1)being
pregnant is hard on your kidneys or 2) having diabetes is hard on your kidneys. So it could be one or the other or both!! How fun.
Here's the fun part.....she told me I needed to "collect" all my urine for a 24 hour period. Then it needs to be at the lab in less than 8 hours. Also, I need to have my blood drawn while I am at the lab dropping my pee off. So fun. So my 24 hours just ended. It wasn't so bad, but a bit annoying. Especially in
the middle of the night when I just wanted to wake up use the potty and go back to bed. Instead I had to collect and refrigerate.
EWWWWWWWW!!!! It really wasn't to bad but gross to think about and annoying.
Anyhoo, keep your fingers crossed that it is good results so that I don't have to worry about yet another thing going wrong or happening this pregnancy.
P.S. If you made it through, on another note, Aidan starts school officially
tomorrow!!! I am so excited for him
and nervous and sad for myself. He is pretty darn excited. He has asked all weekend if he gets to go to school "tomorrow." Hooray for tomorrow!! Nana and I are going to take him so that Nana can buy him his first day of school outfit!! We love Nana!!! That is awfully sweet of her especially since right now we aren't in a position to be spending any money on school clothes since it is the first half of the month and bills and rent are all due this week and next. Not to mention little man has literally no clothes that fit his lower half that aren't shorts. All his sweats and jeans are high watering it
and getting a bit small. Hopefully next week will work to buy him clothes. Luckily it doesn't matter that much since the weather is still nice out and he is in afternoon preschool. So hooray for my little boy turning into a big boy!!! Little sister is kicking right now and I like to think that is her way of
saying, HOORAY!!! for Aidan!!
