97 degree heat...the apartment was that hot too....

Ok, so as many people might know, this past weekend was a killer in Seattle. It was 97 degrees on Saturday and 95 on Sunday. We left the fans on all day and night and nothing helped. Not even having the window's open. It wouldn't be so bad if I weren't prego but since I am and have a built in heater, it's a little overwhelming. Currently our apartment is 85 degrees and when we woke up it was 79 degrees. Yesterday it was 75. We have 5 fans and I am trying to find as many more as possible so that I can plug them in ANYWHERE. I swear our energy bill will be around the same as in the winter for this summer. Which is frustrating because we don't even have the heat on.

So we have been going to restaurants, stores, the pool, and my mom's house and using the Elmo sprinkler to try and stay cool. Going out to eat is killer because everything is SO expensive but I refuse to turn on my oven and don't really know how to cook on the BBQ not to mention that we have a bunch of stuff on our deck blocking our BBQ because we had the carpets cleaned this weekend and haven't moved it inside quite yet. So as for dinner tonight, not sure what will happen but we might end up out again....we can't afford to go out this much but its to terribly hot and the AC does feel heavenly. We might have to indulge one more night of eating out. Ahh, but we have to pay rent too...decisions. Rent will obviously win out but maybe it will be cereal for dinner tonight or something along those lines. If anyone has any good HOT weather foods that you recommend PLEASE PLEASE send them my way. I have made taco salads and am very tired of them at this point. Try and stay cool wherever you are!!

160 and things are going well!!

So I had my 12 week appointment today and I took both Aidan and Makenna (my friend Alexa's daughter that is hanging out with us for the summer). The second we got there while I was checking in Aidan decided to wet his pants. UGH!!! Of course I had absolutely no clothes with me. Of all days. Oops. It even looked like he sat in the pool or the bathtub and got soaked. So we got back to the room and they did my blood pressure, my weight all of that and everything was great!! I have currently gained 0 pounds this pregnancy and I am actually down 2-3 pounds from pre-pregnancy. I know I need to gain weight for the baby but at the same time, I sort of hope I don't gain any. They were happy with everything.

The best part was when we tried for the baby's heartbeat. Aidan and Makenna anxiously awaited as did I!! It was hard to find at first but then there it was!! She said it was a bit quiet because baby is so small but it will get louder as the baby gets bigger. She said it was around 160 beats per minute!! The kids thought it was pretty cool.

Oh on top of everything, because Aidan was over 9 pounds at birth and because my BMI (Body Mass Index) was above a certain point they wanted me to do the glucose screening at the beginning of the pregnancy to make sure that I don't have gestational diabetes. So, I chugged that nasty orange drink in the parking garage before I went into my appointment and then after I had to have my blood drawn exactly an hour after I drank the stuff. The first vein they tried nothing came out and she was in the right spot and everything....talk about frustrating for both her and I. So another gal came in and tried the other arm and sure enough it worked!! I was deemed to have small "hidden" veins. When I was a baby I had slippery veins, but haven't had any problems since. Oh well.

After the blood draws, we headed to the cafeteria and got lunch so that we could just come home to our 85 degree apartment and have Aidan take his nap, not to mention that I needed food NOW. I hadn't had anything to eat since 6:30am. Now we are obviously home and Aidan is napping and Makenna is doing puzzles while I do this post. We have to go over our week and see what we are going to do throughout the week. Hope you are all enjoying this weather!! Keep an eye open around July 25th for another update. That is my next appointment unless I fail the glucose test then I would have to go for the 3 hour test and drink that nasty stuff every hour and have my blood drawn. Icky...oh well.

L....O.....N.....G......E......S......T day of the year!!!

So today was the LONGEST day of the year!! Woo hoo!! It was a beautiful day at that. We had 88 degree weather and sun all day. I had to work at 6am which was fine but Aidan was wired and wouldn't calm down to lay down wiht me until we had to wake up the kiddo's. I didn't get to snooze unfortunately and was extra tired today. When we got home he played around in the front room while I took a 2 hour nap. I love that my child is perfectly content to play and not get into things and let me get my rest. He understands that the baby is making Mommy exhuasted lately and that I need to nap sometimes.

Once I woke up he and I ate lunch and then he went and took his nap. We had to pick up Miss Em at school since today was her last day of school for the sumemr!! She was pretty excited needless to say. So we got home and waited for the UPS woman (today it was a gal) to deliver the package that we were expecting from my biological grandma. We got a full set of silverware that she had bought for my biological mom for when she got married but she never did. So she asked if I would like it and of course I said sure!!

So once the UPS gal came we headed to the pool and it was chilly but refreshing. You got use to the chilly water. So we stayed there until almost 6pm. 2 1/2 hours of pool fun and Jim and Autumn joined us so Aidan had someone to watch and play with and I had someone to talk to. We ended the evening with a yummy BBQ'd meal that John BBQ'd and some yummy rice. A nice way to end a HOT day. If only we had some watermelon to go with dinner.....

It was a BEAUTIFUL day today!

So, today was absolutely amazing here in Redmond! It was sunny and HOT, or at least compared to what it has been that is. So we had a great day overall. We started off the morning by watching cartoons and then getting up and eating (Aidan had already eaten but I needed to so I wouldn't get sick). After we were 100% ready for our day we headed to Macy's. We have a wedding we are going to this weekend and I have a bridal shower in 3 weeks so I got both gifts while I was there. All in one trip. We didn't take the stroller so I was a bit nervous how Aidan would do. He was AWESOME!! After we bought our gifts, we went and got a pretzel and played on the toys for a little while.

We headed home and he took a nap while I just relaxed. It felt good not having anything to do. So, after the nap we packed everything in the car and headed to Idylwood park to play in the lake and sand. Aidan had a blast!! I was able to sit and relax and read my magazine, although I think I need an actual chair next time but it was fun!! We were there for almost 2 1/2 hours. We then came home because Aidan had to go potty half way home. So, by that point, I was so tired that making dinner was out of the question. So we went to one of John and my favorite hole in the wall restaurants and got dinner to go!!

We met John at Anderson park where we were yesterday and ate and let Aidan play for 15 minutes or so. Then it was time to come home to go to bed so that we can be up early to go to Emmy & Na-Na's house at 6am. Aidan wanted to stay at the park all day though. Poor guy. Keep your fingers crossed for nice weather so we can go back tomorrow!! So needless to say, the high of 67 here in Seattle ended up being 80!! We took FULL advantage. We hope you all did too! Also for more pics from today check our dropshots!! I'm trying to upload more often and to be more on the ball!!

Father's Day!

First off, I want to wish my sweet hubby a very Happy Father's Day. I hope it was as fun as you wanted.

So, today, we didn't do a whole lot. We took Aidan in the pool here at the complex for a swim even though it was barely 64 degrees out. Brrr....his poor chin kept going up and down. So after that we stuck our feet in the hot tub so that he could warm up. I wasn't feeling much like swimming so I was dubbed the photographer and towel getter today. We then came home and Aidan napped and John and I got KFC for lunch. We were hoping to go to Acropolis but they didn't answer the phones. Boo, we haven't had that in FOREVER and its one of our favorite little almost hole in the wall restaurants!! Spendy so we hardly go there but worth EVERY penny.

So when Aid woke up, I heard a funny noise and went to investigate. He was reading his new book that reads to him. He got that from Grandma & Grandpa for his birthday. It was cute, he was obviously not awake yet but still listening to a story.
So we hung out until John had to go to work. We then went to the park but Perrigo had NO parking whatsoever!! WE decided that Anderson might be better so we went and sure enough I got a spot right by the entrance. Yahoo!! Even better the car was in the shade the entire time. We played for about an hour before I was to warm and tired of sitting on a hard bench (picnic blanket, snacks, sunblock, a good book and hats will come next time too). We decided to go get a special treat. Aidan got a kid's cone at Dairy Queen and I got a small blizzard. Still can't finish one of them. But they did have my favorite flavor or kind, Snickers!! Yea!! So Aidan was just funny after he ate because I swear he had more on his face than in his tummy.

We ran one more errand to return a movie and check another one out, I will get through Medium before July all seasons!! Now we are home and it is still beautiful out, but we are watching a movie because I needed a break. I was feeling a bit lightheaded and such. Besides I need to fix dinner soon, I was thinking breakfast for dinner certainly sounds great to me!! So we'll probably have that soon. I don't have to worry about what John wants for dinner since he is at work. He started at 4pm today and works until rush is over or maybe a bit later. Who knows. I'll cook some mashed potatoes for him and he can finish the yummy crockpot ham from the other day, if you want the recipe email me or leave a comment, Aidan could seriously make it it's that easy!! So, hope you all had a wonderful Father's day and that your dad's all felt special!!! Enjoy the photos!

Emotional....ummmmm, YEA!!!!

So, as of right now, this totally describes Aidan. He has an emotional melt-down over the silliest and littlest things. For example, yesterday he and I had some errands to run at Target and we got to Target about 11am. We usually do lunch around 11:30am so I promised that if he did a good job that we could have lunch there. Well, I got him his usual, hot dog kids meal and one for me too! He always gets the milk and I always get the soda. I know I should drink my milk too...

So, we went to the soda machine so that I could get my soda and then straws and ketchup and he kept pointing to the ICEE machine saying that he wanted that. I looked at him and told him sorry that I bought a milk for him today. Well.....that brought on the tears and not I'm a little sad, but HUGE crocodile tears and sobbing. At first I was a bit taken aback since he's never done that before. I finally told him when he wouldn't stop that his choices were to stop and eat lunch at Target or we could go home and straight to naps and eat lunch after.

He of course calmed slightly and we ate there, but when we went to sit in the seat again, he let loose AGAIN!! I told him that the next time we were at Target that we could get an ICEE for him instead of his usual cookie that he gets when he behaves and/or minds the rules and is Mommy's big helper. That worked. Until we got home....

When we got into his room life seemed to end at the fact that he had to take a nap. He was T-I-R-E-D!!! I finally said to him, 'I love you, goodnight and we'll see you when you wake up.' and walked out. I hate when we have issues like that but it doesn't happen often. He calmed before I was out the door and even said night night back to me when I said it to him.

So my thoughts on his "horrible 3's" is going to be "emotional 3's" instead. I figure I'll just roll with the punches and at least its better than tantrums, at least for now. Oh well, he had to learn about emotions eventually right??!!

Happy Birthday Papa!!

I know that my dad is no longer living but we still like to make his birthday a special day. So today, Friday, June 6, 2008 would have been my dad's 60th birthday. So Aidan and I went to the store and bought his favorite's. Angel food cake, whipped cream (ok it was my favorite not his), strawberries, vanilla ice cream, and hot fudge (again that was for me for after the cake is gone).

We got home to late tonight to make the cake and then to eat it too, but we whipped it up and baked it. We are hoping to enjoy a bit of strawberry shortcake Papa style tomorrow with Kaitlyn and Makenna after dinner. I am watching M&K while their mom and dad go out on a date for their 8th anniversary!!

Aidan has also been singing happy birthday ALL day long. At times it has been a VERY long day because he sings "Happy Birthday to you" over and over and over and over....He finally would say to Papa. So we sang all day. Aidan liked celebrating Papa today and I did too. We talked about all the memories of Papa that I had of him and of him with Aidan. Aidan wondered why we weren't going to Maple Valley to the cemetery to visit him but unfortunately with gas prices these days, I have to be a little bit pickier on where and when I drive. Also, it was a busy day and I was exhausted by the time the day was over. Hopefully for Father's day we'll make it down to visit. Happy Birthday Papa!! We love you and can't wait to see you again!

For those who are keep track...

They also adjusted my due date this morning at my doctors appointment. The new date is....
January 13, 2009
Thought you might want to know!

1st Doctors appointment down...

Ok, so I had my first appointment with my midwife today. I really liked the midwife I had today, but I am not under her care individually. I believe she said that there were 4 midwifes at the office and I will be under all of their care. It was a LONG appointment but it was the first and they needed to take all my history and such. It was nice because I was able to get to know the staff and the office a bit better while I was there.

Aidan spent the night last night at John's parents so that I would only have to worry about myself and getting myself ready for my appointment. It was also good that he wasn't there since they did all the girly things that need to be done at the first appointment anyway. He doesn't need to be seeing any of that any time soon. I don't have to worry about that until later on in the pregnancy thankfully.

As I was walking back to the room with the nurse she was asking why I didn't bring him with me. She said that the staff LOVES to see the kiddos and that they are pretty open to having your kiddos there. At my old office, I always felt (even for my 6-week post-delivery appointment) that I needed someone to stay with Aidan. I loved my last OB but she won't do a VBAC and I feel really strongly about at least trying for a VBAC. So we'll see what happens. I totally understand that it isn't always guaranteed that I will be able to have a VBAC but at least I can have the opportunity at this office to do what I feel strongly about.

There were no ultrasounds unlike my last pregnancy, I had a u/s at 9weeks with Aidan. The midwives at this office only do u/s at 20 weeks unless there is a need for an earlier u/s. So sorry, no pictures to show off this time around. Hopefully at the 20week u/s I will be able to figure out how to scan and post pics of baby. Otherwise I still feel gross and nauseated most of the time unless I have a full tummy but hopefully that will subside here in the next 4-8 weeks. So, that's all I have for today. I have another appointment on June 30th so look for another update then. Oh and I am the lucky one who gets to do the glucose testing at my next appointment too. Why you ask?? Because my BMI is over a certain point AND I had a baby over 9 pounds. So they are monitoring to make sure I don't have gestational diabetes. So yea, I get to drink that icky orange stuff now and then again more towards the middle of my pregnancy so yea me!! Not really. Ugh, oh well.

1st Dentist Appointment!

Holding Daddy's hand until he got more comfortable!

Today Aidan had his first dentist appointment. He at first was not at all sure about it and when I tried to sit him down into the chair he would not let go of my neck until we compromised and let him hold daddy's hand. He didn't like the idea of the chair going backwards either into the reclining position and when the hygienist tried to give him a mirror to hold he wouldn't let go of the sides of the chair. So daddy held it. That made things better.

He loved to play with all of the fun "toys" like the water and air and the sucker thingy. In fact the dental hygienist let him hold the water/air thingy and he had fun blowing air into his hair!! We were all laughing. When the doctor came over, he was a bit worried we were giving Aidan ideas and that Aidan would squirt him with water. It was all really funny. Here are a few pictures from the visit. John had the day off unfortunately (they laid him off for today, hopefully he works tomorrow) so he was able to come. I was hoping that would happen on Thursday since that is my first OB appointment but Aidan sure enjoyed having daddy share in his new experience!! What a big boy he is!

As always, we have more photos and such at our dropshots account. I didn't post all the photos on this blog because it would take up to much room.

Aidan with the dentist. He thought he liked pretty silly with the two sets of glasses. But he did so well and actually let the dentist look into his mouth, something the doctors don't get to see unless they use that wood popsicle stick thingy. The best part was at the end when he was able to "slide" down the chair! They raised it so it was pretty tall and had him slide off the end into my awaiting arms. He LOVED it. On top of it, he picked out a cool new toy from their toy bin and was able to pick out a new toothbrush and got some new floss and such!! Just like Mommy and Daddy get when we go to the dentist!

Not liking the reclined position as much and holding on for dear life!

Aidan playing with the "toys" at the office with the hygienist!

What a wonderful weekend!

Wow, we had a crazy but fun weekend!! Saturday John got up and helped our friends move to their first home (that they owned!!). After that he came home and showered, ate a quick lunch and then we were off to Aidan's "friend" birthday party. We went to the Little Gym and everyone had such a wonderful time. The kids had a blast and I loved it because of how much fun everyone had, not to mention that we had won the gift certificate for the party!!

So after the party with about 8 of his little friends, we went over to Alexa & Timaney's (our nickname for Tim) and grilled salmon, prawns, rice, yummy asparagus and then some more birthday cake after dinner!! So yummy. We ended up staying for a movie even though it was almost 10pm. Aidan fell asleep with the girls in Makenna's room until we left. John and I both crashed during the movie on the couch. Alexa kept insisting that we stay and sleep on the couch since it was a 30-45 minute drive home, but since I never feel great due to the morning sickness first thing in the AM I wanted to go home and sleep in my bed. John wanted to stay late and so I groggily drove home. Needless to say he was in big doo doo with me. The next morning he realized why once he had a good nights sleep.

Sunday was crazy. Aidan and I spent most of the day at home and just resting and trying to do something around this place. Our place has been pretty messy lately due to the fact that I have no energy to do much lately. The joy's of being prego. John was at my mom's hauling things to the dump for her. He worked hard and then came home and ate lunch and showered (hmm, sounds like the day before huh.) and then he headed to Garlic Jim's for his shift there. He ended up being about 45 minutes late but he had called and they said it was ok. I hate that he was late. I told him that he needs to make sure he is on-time from now on. Oh well. It was a short night for him.

Today is a normal day, John is at work and I am here at home blogging and hopefully going to get something done. I have to head to Evergreen Hospital to sign a release for my records from my doctor that delivered Aidan. Since I am trying a VBAC I have a new doctor and they need my records. So, at least I have something to do this afternoon that will get us out of the house!! I think it will also be a park day although it isn't the nicest of weather. Oh well, at least it isn't super warm which can be exhausting for me right now. I will get pictures up soon. I haven't taken them off the camera yet. Keep your eyes peeled for that!!
