So, I have been feeling pretty good overall lately. I have one pregnancy related "issue" that needs to clear up and then I will be feeling even better (if you really want to know, email me but I think it would be TMI for me to post). So, the midwives have given me a few suggestions and I am doing my best but to no avail. It's rather annoying at this point.
Anyhoo, I started my first day on 1/2 a tablet of my anti-nausea meds and we will try that for about a week and then go to every other day. So I am slowly being weaned off of them!! Let's hope it is a successful weaning process and that the morning sickness is fully gone after this.
I have been sleeping ok, I wake a lot to use the potty but that is normal. Once I use the potty it takes me awhile to get comfy enough to fall asleep so its a never ending battle. UGH!! Oh well.
My sugars are good. The fasting reading isn't though. I am suppose to call if my sugars are above 95 in the morning for 3 out of 4 days. Well today is the 4th day that they have been high. =(. I am bummed about that. I think I talked the diabetic educator gal to give me another 2 days to see if they go down. SO for nothing. I am so bummed because that means that she will put me on medication and I really don't want to be on medication. I think that part of the reason behind my high fasting readings is the unnamed issue that I have going on. I am hoping that once I resolve this issue, then my readings will go down. I hope that it gets resolved before I need to call for the medication on Friday though. The countdown is on. So keep your fingers crossed for me.
I think this is it. I know it has been forever and a day since I posted pics and I have just been lazy to be honest. I promise I will soon though. Uncle Ryan is in town late tonight through Sunday evening so I might just wait until Uncle Ryan goes home and then post all the pics of him up here and playing with Aidan!! Stay tuned though. On another random note, mom bought her tickets to fly out to Ohio in October this morning for my cousin Andy's wedding. Andy is marrying a totally fun and sweet girl named Andrea. I already feel as if she has been in our family for forever!! Oh and we got our tickets about a week or so ago. Mom was able to be on the same flights as us both ways and we even were able to choose our seats and mom is sitting with us!! We can't wait and I have my personal countdown going on!! So exciting!!! Anyhoo, I need to get Aidan in bed for naps so look for more posts after the weekend!!

UGH!!!! Is this morning sickness business over yet?
So as I reported recently that my midwife wanted me to try without my medication for my nausea. That backfired. Well I have been taking it like normal AND this morning I got sick again. This time I was in my car and thankfully I had the window down already because I knew I wasn't feeling good. I had to pull over and throw up (sorry for the TMI) and I had people behind me. It was quite interesting.
Needless to say I don't think this morning sickness thing is over and had to take 2 pills which I try to take one that way it lengthens the 30 pills that they will give me. Oh well. I have to call my midwife and hope that they give me more refills!! So we will see. I am so annoyed that this is lingering though. Hopefully it passes soon so that I can enjoy this pregnancy like I did with Aid....at this point John might be vetoed on not finding out the sex with all the stuff this baby is putting me through.
Speaking of u/s. John had put in for taking off the day before his HS reunion (I also scheduled our u/s that day and my 20-week appointment) and the following Monday off so it would be two consecutive work days off. He got them!!! We are headed to a wedding and wouldn't have been able to go if he didn't get the Monday off since its in Oregon and to far for me to drive. I was so happy. I think I might love his boss now!!! LOL!!! John laughed when I told him that. Anyhoo, need to entertain the kiddo, hope you have a great day. It's rainy and gross here so enjoy the sun if you have it where you are and enjoy it for us!!

Nausea update...
So, at my appointment yesterday, my midwife mentioned that I should be at the point that I won't be needing the meds anymore. So she suggested that I try without. So being the daredevil that I usually am not, I decided if I was going to do it last night was the night. I didn't take the usually dose right before bed. What you need to know is that this med is meant to be taken every 8 hours as needed but I was told I might only need one dose a day. That was what I was doing, the one dose daily, right before bed so by the time I woke up I would be okay.
So, this morning, I was awake long enough to use the restroom, come to the front room and sit in our desk chair. I then asked for my water next to my bed that Aidan promptly ran and got for me. I took the pill and literally 30 seconds later I was dry heaving. It only got worse from there. I determined that I did indeed keep the pill down though because about 30 minutes later (that's how long it takes to kick in) I was feeling 10 times better. I ended up throwing up and seeing stars. I was crying and miserable and upset that I still get sick. So I guess when I finish the last 13 pills I will be giving my wonderful midwives a call and explaining that I did try and no luck. We'll see what happens. Sorry for the detail, but I thought I would update.

16 week appointment
Ok peoples, here is the update on my pregnancy. We are almost 16 weeks...early next week to be exact. Anyhoo, back to the facts. Mom was going to watch Aidan so that he could continue his nap and not be woken up. Well, she ended up needing to take my Aunt Margaret down to Seattle to have her blood drawn at her doctors office because Evergreen Hospital wouldn't. Her doctor apparently doesn't have privileges at Evergreen. Anyhoo, he was awake when I went in to wake him up although I think he could have used a bit more sleep.
We get to the hospital with barely enough time for me to grab a Luna bar because it was "snack" time for me. Makenna (my friends daughter that I am watching all summer) helped by undoing Aid's seat belt. Aidan burst into tears because he wanted to do that and cried until we got to the gift shop for a few treats. The kids split a bag of skittles while I was good and ate a Luna bar instead of that Snickers bar that was screaming my name.
So we got to the office and finally was taken back to the room. Finally my midwife came in and she got paged while we were chatting about my sugars. She stepped out and came back in shortly after that. I asked all my questions and she wasn't concerned with anything. She then said let's get to the fun stuff!!! Listening to baby!! Well I have a stinker!! S/he wouldn't cooperate and it took a bit to find baby so that we could listen to his/her heart. When we finally did after a few minutes baby decided that s/he didn't like this listening to the heart business and kicked the doppler. Silly kid. I have a feeling this one is going to definitely express their mind and opinion.
Now for fun info, I have officially LOST, you heard correctly, 5.5 pounds. Baby's heart beat was at about 140 today to. So what does that mean...boy or girl?? We might never know!! I'm kidding we will know come January that's for sure. They didn't tell me my blood pressure but they said it was fine. SO overall everything and everyone is fine. Hope you are all doing as well!! Next appointment is ultrasound and 20 week appointment!

Time to update!!
What a week!! It has been a great week, just busy. I am seriously wondering if the summer will ever calm down long enough for us to enjoy it without something going on. Oh well. Uncle Sandy, and Aunt Jerri Lynn were in town from the 7-17 so that was fun. We (Aidan and I and occasionally Makenna and John) were over at my mom's every single day to maximize visitation time!! We had a great time just playing in Nana's yard and chatting. It gave me much needed breaks from our 1) hot apartment 2) from Aidan's energy 3) entertaining the kids. Not that I mind the latter two but.....you sometimes just need a break.
So Friday was back to normal. I had yet another appointment with the nutritionist and diabetic educator. Talk about negative Nelly. I was really irritated after meeting with the diabetic educator. She was telling me that my goals wouldn't happen and that it was unreasonable and that I needed to cut ALL sugar out of my diet (Gatorade was the main issue). I have been drinking about 1 Gatorade every 3-4 days or once a week because of the morning sickness on recommendation by my midwife. I told her that and she gave me a look as if to say that I was lying about it just to make an excuse. By the time I left I had had it. She also was eying Aidan and seemed irritated that I had to bring him with me. (In-laws were out of town, my mom was at my Aunt's surgery, no babysitters). The other gal thought it was great and that he was really well behaved for 3. Aidan didn't even talk until the NN (negative Nelly) mentioned putting cream cheese on waffles, french toast, or pancakes. He then said, "I like that!" It was really cute but she didn't think so. The annoying thing is I have to see NN every 2 weeks and she WILL be putting me on medication SOON as in before the next appointment or at the next appointment in her opinion. Not let's see how we can figure out how we can postpone the medicine as long as possible. OH well, I'm over it now. We'll see how next time goes.
As for my Aunt Marg who had her surgery yesterday!! She is in A LOT of pain, but the surgery went well!! Such a relief!! She has been fighting so hard against this cancer and has had many little battles along the way that it was nice to have this good news that the surgery went well!! So I am hoping that things continue to look up for her!
I should run, since John and Aidan are outside playing baseball and its lunch time and I haven't even made Aid's lunch yet. Oops. Oh well. So, until next time. I'll update definitely on Friday after my appointment with my midwife. We'll see what she says about the Gatorade thing. Grrr..... Oh well. Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Our weekend!!
Ok, our weekend was well, C-R-A-Z-Y and exhausting. John and I felt that we needed at least another week to recoup from the weekend before our weeks started. UGH!! I hate feeling like that but at the same time that means we had a great weekend!!
Let's start with Friday the 11th!!

It was my 27th birthday and it turned into a wonderful birthday!! I had my appointment and then we went to my mom's for lunch and to hang out until I went to pick up Aidan from the in-laws house. We all ended up back at Nana's (my mom's) around 4pm for Flank steak dinner and birthday cake!! My Aunt Jerri Lynn made a homemade ice cream, angel food cake. YUM It was a yummy meal. John was able to show up right around the time we were eating. It was nice that he didn't have to work terribly late that night and that I could see him. Not to mention that I had been on my anti-nausea meds and it was making me feel terrific!!
Saturday the 12th!!
We woke up and went to the in-laws house for breakfast of blueberry pancakes and bacon and eggs. Yum! So, we went to mom's house and John and my Uncle Sandy ended up taking 3 loads of branches and such to the dump or wherever the go. They are finally finished with that. While the boys worked, mom, Jerri Lynn and myself went to Purple Cafe and had a yummy lunch, and then went for pedi's!! We all even got cute flowers on our toes!! So fun! After we got back and the boys finished, John and I zoomed over to pick up Aidan from the in-laws to go home and get ready for a wedding. We ended up being about 45 minutes late since we left late and I needed to go to the pharmacy to get more test strips and lancets for my meter. Oh well, it was mainly a reception since they were already married before he went to Iraq. He's in the marines. Well, we left the wedding and got home around 11pm and crashed again.
Sunday, the 13th!!

John and Aidan let me sleep until almost 11am, while they ran errands. Much needed for sure! Then I got ready and headed to my mom's house after making a Chocolate Mousse Pie for after dinner that night. Mom and I had a bridal shower for a good friend of mine that I have known since like 3rd grade or so. Mom is also really good friends with her mom, in fact they go on "girls weekends" with 2 other women and all of us girls/daughters are the same age so that's fun, especially when they invite us on the weekends too!! Ok I digress. We went to the shower which was wonderful and had a great time celebrating Darci and showering her with gifts and games and such. Then we rushed home to have a home cooked BBQ from Jerri Lynn. She had been cooking and prepping for literally 4-5 days. We had so much, BBQ chicken, 4-bean bake, cheesy potato casserole, couscous salad, regular green salad (Katie's speciality), homemade lemonade, gooey spoon bread (like a really gooey cornbread), and then there was dessert. We had crepes with vanilla pudding (homemade), berries, homemade whipped cream, Nutela, bananas, some yummy rice krispie treat like treat but made with corn flakes, and my chocolate mousse pie. WOW, so much food but SO yummy. I don't think I forgot anything. We visited and played and then it was time to go home. We slept HARD last night.

Today has been a relaxed day at home and now I am using my folding laundry time to update this and to update the dropshots AND to watch 7th Heaven while Makenna and Aidan sleep soundly. So I hope you all had as great of a weekend as we did.
I DID IT!!
Here is the update that I'm sure that many of you are anxiously waiting to hear about. The big diabetic educator and nutritionist appointments. Sorry its taken SO long to post, but Friday I crashed when we finally got home after 9:30pm. Then Saturday we didn't get home until after 11pm (read other blogs that appear before this one to find out about our weekend), and Sunday it was almost 10pm when we finally got home. LONG weekend. But so fun.
Ok for the fun stuff. I had my appointment on Friday. What a great way to spend my birthday. First we met with the diabetic educator and she told us how my body is processing sugar at the moment which isn't very efficiently, and how we are going to plan to keep it in check. Also this will help me be able to hopefully succeed in a VBAC with this baby. I really want to experience a birth that way, but I need to do my part between now and the next 7 months before the birth. So then she pulled out a fun little glucose meter. HA. I was terrified. I HATE needles and it freaked me out so much when I saw the kit that I got sweaty palms. She took everything out and showed me how to do it and then guess what, it was my turn.
It took me about a minute to actually get the guts to do this (call me chicken) but I did!! AND, it didn't even hurt. Mind you it wasn't on a "deep" enough setting so I had to up the depth on my poker thing to a 2 from a 1. The 2 hurts a bit more but its a quick poke and then the hurt is over. Something I can handle. So, I get to do this 5 times a day and record it and go back on Friday to go over my results. So far they look decent to me but who knows.
Then we went to the nutritionist and went over portion size and ideas for foods to eat and such. Nothing I haven't heard before. Lot's of good information overall though. So, the good news is there isn't much to worry about right now and I just have to test and keep track and then let the doctors know on Friday when I go in. I will be going on a weekly or bi-monthly or monthly basis for now. We aren't sure until Friday since it depends on my sugar levels. So there you go, not to exciting, but I promised to update everyone after the appointment!! I might even take a pic at some point and you can see my nifty meter and what I have to do. So fun!!
