Our weekend!!

Ok, our weekend was well, C-R-A-Z-Y and exhausting. John and I felt that we needed at least another week to recoup from the weekend before our weeks started. UGH!! I hate feeling like that but at the same time that means we had a great weekend!!

Let's start with Friday the 11th!!

It was my 27th birthday and it turned into a wonderful birthday!! I had my appointment and then we went to my mom's for lunch and to hang out until I went to pick up Aidan from the in-laws house. We all ended up back at Nana's (my mom's) around 4pm for Flank steak dinner and birthday cake!! My Aunt Jerri Lynn made a homemade ice cream, angel food cake. YUM It was a yummy meal. John was able to show up right around the time we were eating. It was nice that he didn't have to work terribly late that night and that I could see him. Not to mention that I had been on my anti-nausea meds and it was making me feel terrific!!

Saturday the 12th!!

We woke up and went to the in-laws house for breakfast of blueberry pancakes and bacon and eggs. Yum! So, we went to mom's house and John and my Uncle Sandy ended up taking 3 loads of branches and such to the dump or wherever the go. They are finally finished with that. While the boys worked, mom, Jerri Lynn and myself went to Purple Cafe and had a yummy lunch, and then went for pedi's!! We all even got cute flowers on our toes!! So fun! After we got back and the boys finished, John and I zoomed over to pick up Aidan from the in-laws to go home and get ready for a wedding. We ended up being about 45 minutes late since we left late and I needed to go to the pharmacy to get more test strips and lancets for my meter. Oh well, it was mainly a reception since they were already married before he went to Iraq. He's in the marines. Well, we left the wedding and got home around 11pm and crashed again.

Sunday, the 13th!!

John and Aidan let me sleep until almost 11am, while they ran errands. Much needed for sure! Then I got ready and headed to my mom's house after making a Chocolate Mousse Pie for after dinner that night. Mom and I had a bridal shower for a good friend of mine that I have known since like 3rd grade or so. Mom is also really good friends with her mom, in fact they go on "girls weekends" with 2 other women and all of us girls/daughters are the same age so that's fun, especially when they invite us on the weekends too!! Ok I digress. We went to the shower which was wonderful and had a great time celebrating Darci and showering her with gifts and games and such. Then we rushed home to have a home cooked BBQ from Jerri Lynn. She had been cooking and prepping for literally 4-5 days. We had so much, BBQ chicken, 4-bean bake, cheesy potato casserole, couscous salad, regular green salad (Katie's speciality), homemade lemonade, gooey spoon bread (like a really gooey cornbread), and then there was dessert. We had crepes with vanilla pudding (homemade), berries, homemade whipped cream, Nutela, bananas, some yummy rice krispie treat like treat but made with corn flakes, and my chocolate mousse pie. WOW, so much food but SO yummy. I don't think I forgot anything. We visited and played and then it was time to go home. We slept HARD last night.



Today has been a relaxed day at home and now I am using my folding laundry time to update this and to update the dropshots AND to watch 7th Heaven while Makenna and Aidan sleep soundly. So I hope you all had as great of a weekend as we did.

I DID IT!!

Here is the update that I'm sure that many of you are anxiously waiting to hear about. The big diabetic educator and nutritionist appointments. Sorry its taken SO long to post, but Friday I crashed when we finally got home after 9:30pm. Then Saturday we didn't get home until after 11pm (read other blogs that appear before this one to find out about our weekend), and Sunday it was almost 10pm when we finally got home. LONG weekend. But so fun.

Ok for the fun stuff. I had my appointment on Friday. What a great way to spend my birthday. First we met with the diabetic educator and she told us how my body is processing sugar at the moment which isn't very efficiently, and how we are going to plan to keep it in check. Also this will help me be able to hopefully succeed in a VBAC with this baby. I really want to experience a birth that way, but I need to do my part between now and the next 7 months before the birth. So then she pulled out a fun little glucose meter. HA. I was terrified. I HATE needles and it freaked me out so much when I saw the kit that I got sweaty palms. She took everything out and showed me how to do it and then guess what, it was my turn.

It took me about a minute to actually get the guts to do this (call me chicken) but I did!! AND, it didn't even hurt. Mind you it wasn't on a "deep" enough setting so I had to up the depth on my poker thing to a 2 from a 1. The 2 hurts a bit more but its a quick poke and then the hurt is over. Something I can handle. So, I get to do this 5 times a day and record it and go back on Friday to go over my results. So far they look decent to me but who knows.

Then we went to the nutritionist and went over portion size and ideas for foods to eat and such. Nothing I haven't heard before. Lot's of good information overall though. So, the good news is there isn't much to worry about right now and I just have to test and keep track and then let the doctors know on Friday when I go in. I will be going on a weekly or bi-monthly or monthly basis for now. We aren't sure until Friday since it depends on my sugar levels. So there you go, not to exciting, but I promised to update everyone after the appointment!! I might even take a pic at some point and you can see my nifty meter and what I have to do. So fun!!

My NEW best friend.....

Is.....anti-nasaua medicine!!! So as some of you know, I have had the WORSE morning sickness in the last 2 weeks. **Warning: slightly gory** I have been throwing up daily anywhere from 2-5 times each time I throw up and I can't STAND it whatsoever. Who can though....so this morning, I ate breakfast and you guessed it started to feel icky, and then threw-up. So fun. NOT!!! I gave up, threw in the towel, called it quits. I am a quitter. I can accept it proudly too.

So after I waited 2 1/2 hours for my midwife to FINALLY call back (I took a nap in the middle of waiting), I got the call and it was a nurse who got some details and then said that the midwife would call back. About a half hour later the midwife Janice, finally called. She was music to my ears. We had a few options, over the counter options or DRUGS!!! Now I know I sound like a druggie but at this point I really don't care at all. So we talked for a bit and she determined that I would be best on the medication!! Thank goodness!! She called it in and I picked it up at Fred Meyer a few hours later.

Here's the crazy thing, John got home and I had done SO much more than normal such as the dishes (its been his job lately) and then started talking his ears off....he couldn't believe it. I am literally a different person (nausae related that is) than I was 10 hours ago. So even though I sound like a druggie and wanting my medication, I am now feeling 110% better than I did, I am not overwhelmed by smells right now and don't want to throw-up every time I smell something that bothers me.

The crazy part was that I am 13 1/2 weeks and this should be clearing up and its getting worse. No fun. Hopefully the drugs will help. The crazy thing the first thing in the directions is to take (if this is your situation of course) a half hour before chemotherapy, 1-2 hours before radiotherapy.....I was like great I am taking drugs that they give to cancer patients. As long as it works. So thought I would share the good news that the new best friend in my life is currently my nausea drugs!! Tomorrow is the true test to see how I fair. Keep your fingers crossed that I fair well. Hope you are all as well as I now feel!!

4th of July!! and our weekend.

4th of July!!! It was so fun this year!!! It started off a bit rocky. We were up late the night before because we knew John didn't have to be up early for work. So, while John watched TV and hung out I made potato salad (SO YUMMY!!) and worked on my homemade lemonade. Also so yummy!! The next morning, we got up had breakfast and I walked into the kitchen to finish the potato salad and to do the dishes....John was at the grocery store buying a few things for the BBQ later in the day and buying some things for the potato salad. Anyhoo, I had to turn around and walk out and proceeded to get sick...morning sickness SUCKS!!!

Once that passed, John helped me get stuff ready for the potato salad so that I could finish it and shower. He got home in the middle of my "morning sickness episode" as he calls it. So we got all ready and headed to Kirkland to the parade. SO FUN!! Aidan loved it. We were late because I wasn't feeling good and it takes me longer to get ready when I'm not feeling well. So we grabbed Wendy's (not my first choice but the closest thing to the parade route that we wouldn't have to walk through the middle of the parade to get to. We watched the parade from a stair well and then later from the sidewalk. We found Aid a spot and he started to get the idea of getting candy. He even got his first bubble gum and even tried it. He did so well being careful and chewing with his front teeth only and spitting it out after 2 minutes!!
After the parade we came home and he napped then we headed to the Boone's

for the BBQ!! SO fun. We snacked, ate yummy hamburgers, played in the back yard, walked to the park for fireworks (I did A LOT of walking that day and that wore me out too!!) and then back to the Boone's for more fireworks, err sparklers and some fountains. We did great until all of a sudden we heard over a PA system "Fireworks are illegal, please stop lighting them off immediately." Oops, some of our fireworks had ended up being a bit bigger than we anticipated. Oh well. It was still fun!!
After that, we got packed up and headed home. By the time we got home it was after midnight and Aidan had fallen asleep FINALLY about 15 minutes before we got home. Thank goodness for late naps. We all slept in the next day and then got up and hung out with friends from California until John had to go to work. Overall it was a good weekend, John worked a lot at Garlic Jim's but that isn't so bad since we had the day with him on Friday and Saturday. He worked 5-midnight on Saturday and 10:30am-7:30pm on Sunday. Sunday was rough for me because I ended up getting pretty sick from morning sickness. This is the worst that it has been. I am hoping and PRAYING that it is over soon because I can't take much more of this. I am so burnt out of not being able to eat anything and trying to eat and nothing sounding good. It's for a good cause but seriously....oh well. I just can't wait to meet this little one. John thinks I should call my doctor and see if they can do anything for me since the morning sickness IS definitely getting worse. I'll try and make it to my next appointment on July 25th but if I can't, well I'll call. Keep your fingers crossed and PLEASE!!! if you have any suggestions please let me know!! Update....

Ok, for those of you who read my blog titled "Annoyed" here's the update....John FINALLY stopped long enough to actually talk about the whole diabetes situation for a second. On more than one occasion too. So, yea, I still haven't figured out what his deal was but at least he was questioning a few things such as when I poured myself a itty bitty glass of juice (and I mean itty bitty) I think I had like an ounce or two, I mentioned that I was suppose to stay away from juice and soda (that was what the receptionist said) and he started asking what else. I was a brat and responded, "not that you care," he promptly said of course he did. So at least its a start. He even said that he wishes that he were able to make it to my appointments on Friday so progress!! So yea, I just overreacted which happens often while I'm prego I might add!!

Ok, so today is my cousin Melanie's birthday!! She is exactly a week older than me and we have been pen pals via snail mail or email for as long as I can remember!!! I just want to wish her a very happy birthday and I wish that I could be there to help you celebrate!!! Maybe one of these years!!
