Comments are back up...

So apparantly I turned off the ability to leave comments at some point or another if you don't have a google account or whatever. So, I finally realized that and now you are able to leave comments!! Hooray!! So comment away!! I love to hear from everyone!!! Nighty Night!!

My NEW best friend.....

Is.....anti-nasaua medicine!!! So as some of you know, I have had the WORSE morning sickness in the last 2 weeks. **Warning: slightly gory** I have been throwing up daily anywhere from 2-5 times each time I throw up and I can't STAND it whatsoever. Who can though....so this morning, I ate breakfast and you guessed it started to feel icky, and then threw-up. So fun. NOT!!! I gave up, threw in the towel, called it quits. I am a quitter. I can accept it proudly too.

So after I waited 2 1/2 hours for my midwife to FINALLY call back (I took a nap in the middle of waiting), I got the call and it was a nurse who got some details and then said that the midwife would call back. About a half hour later the midwife Janice, finally called. She was music to my ears. We had a few options, over the counter options or DRUGS!!! Now I know I sound like a druggie but at this point I really don't care at all. So we talked for a bit and she determined that I would be best on the medication!! Thank goodness!! She called it in and I picked it up at Fred Meyer a few hours later.

Here's the crazy thing, John got home and I had done SO much more than normal such as the dishes (its been his job lately) and then started talking his ears off....he couldn't believe it. I am literally a different person (nausae related that is) than I was 10 hours ago. So even though I sound like a druggie and wanting my medication, I am now feeling 110% better than I did, I am not overwhelmed by smells right now and don't want to throw-up every time I smell something that bothers me.

The crazy part was that I am 13 1/2 weeks and this should be clearing up and its getting worse. No fun. Hopefully the drugs will help. The crazy thing the first thing in the directions is to take (if this is your situation of course) a half hour before chemotherapy, 1-2 hours before radiotherapy.....I was like great I am taking drugs that they give to cancer patients. As long as it works. So thought I would share the good news that the new best friend in my life is currently my nausea drugs!! Tomorrow is the true test to see how I fair. Keep your fingers crossed that I fair well. Hope you are all as well as I now feel!!

4th of July!! and our weekend.

4th of July!!! It was so fun this year!!! It started off a bit rocky. We were up late the night before because we knew John didn't have to be up early for work. So, while John watched TV and hung out I made potato salad (SO YUMMY!!) and worked on my homemade lemonade. Also so yummy!! The next morning, we got up had breakfast and I walked into the kitchen to finish the potato salad and to do the dishes....John was at the grocery store buying a few things for the BBQ later in the day and buying some things for the potato salad. Anyhoo, I had to turn around and walk out and proceeded to get sick...morning sickness SUCKS!!!

Once that passed, John helped me get stuff ready for the potato salad so that I could finish it and shower. He got home in the middle of my "morning sickness episode" as he calls it. So we got all ready and headed to Kirkland to the parade. SO FUN!! Aidan loved it. We were late because I wasn't feeling good and it takes me longer to get ready when I'm not feeling well. So we grabbed Wendy's (not my first choice but the closest thing to the parade route that we wouldn't have to walk through the middle of the parade to get to. We watched the parade from a stair well and then later from the sidewalk. We found Aid a spot and he started to get the idea of getting candy. He even got his first bubble gum and even tried it. He did so well being careful and chewing with his front teeth only and spitting it out after 2 minutes!!
After the parade we came home and he napped then we headed to the Boone's
for the BBQ!! SO fun. We snacked, ate yummy hamburgers, played in the back yard, walked to the park for fireworks (I did A LOT of walking that day and that wore me out too!!) and then back to the Boone's for more fireworks, err sparklers and some fountains. We did great until all of a sudden we heard over a PA system "Fireworks are illegal, please stop lighting them off immediately." Oops, some of our fireworks had ended up being a bit bigger than we anticipated. Oh well. It was still fun!!
After that, we got packed up and headed home. By the time we got home it was after midnight and Aidan had fallen asleep FINALLY about 15 minutes before we got home. Thank goodness for late naps. We all slept in the next day and then got up and hung out with friends from California until John had to go to work. Overall it was a good weekend, John worked a lot at Garlic Jim's but that isn't so bad since we had the day with him on Friday and Saturday. He worked 5-midnight on Saturday and 10:30am-7:30pm on Sunday. Sunday was rough for me because I ended up getting pretty sick from morning sickness. This is the worst that it has been. I am hoping and PRAYING that it is over soon because I can't take much more of this. I am so burnt out of not being able to eat anything and trying to eat and nothing sounding good. It's for a good cause but seriously....oh well. I just can't wait to meet this little one. John thinks I should call my doctor and see if they can do anything for me since the morning sickness IS definitely getting worse. I'll try and make it to my next appointment on July 25th but if I can't, well I'll call. Keep your fingers crossed and PLEASE!!! if you have any suggestions please let me know!! I can use any suggestions that I can get. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that you had a safe 4th of July!! Enjoy the photos!!

Update....

Ok, for those of you who read my blog titled "Annoyed" here's the update....John FINALLY stopped long enough to actually talk about the whole diabetes situation for a second. On more than one occasion too. So, yea, I still haven't figured out what his deal was but at least he was questioning a few things such as when I poured myself a itty bitty glass of juice (and I mean itty bitty) I think I had like an ounce or two, I mentioned that I was suppose to stay away from juice and soda (that was what the receptionist said) and he started asking what else. I was a brat and responded, "not that you care," he promptly said of course he did. So at least its a start. He even said that he wishes that he were able to make it to my appointments on Friday so progress!! So yea, I just overreacted which happens often while I'm prego I might add!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MELANIE!!!

Ok, so today is my cousin Melanie's birthday!! She is exactly a week older than me and we have been pen pals via snail mail or email for as long as I can remember!!! I just want to wish her a very happy birthday and I wish that I could be there to help you celebrate!!! Maybe one of these years!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MELANIE!!!!
We miss you and love you!!

Annoyed...

Ok, so I'll blog more about the 4th of July later, but I need a little bit of time to vent really quickly. So skip this post if you don't want to read/listen to me vent. There is your warning.

Anyhoo, as you may know from my last post, I have been diagnosed with diabetes. Well after I got off the phone with the midwife, I called my mom and let her know since she would be my "ear's" at the appointment so that I don't miss anything. Then I thought I would try John on a whim that he actually might pick up the phone even though I knew it was the time of morning that he was about to start leaving the building for his route. He picked up and I told him that the test was positive. He knew what I was talking about because we had discussed this the night before for like 2 seconds quite literally.

Anyhoo, I told him that my sugars were high and that it would be safe to say that I have diabetes. He said to me, "What does that mean now?" I told him that it meant that I had a few appointments next week to make that I would need to learn a few things about the "diabetic diet" and testing my sugars and such. His response was ok, talk to you later. I understand that he needed to get to his route and that was probably one of the worst times that I could call. Oh well, I was super overwhelmed at the thought of what was going to be happening over the next 7 months and just wanted him to be somewhat supportive. He didn't even say, hey can we talk about this more later I need to get going.

So I totally expected to have a conversation with him when he got home from work. HA not!! Not only has he completely avoided any conversation about the diabetes, I was telling him of a gal I know from HS and she found out a month ago she also has diabetes (she's due in August though) and she has been in pre-term labor and has been going to the hospital a lot over the course of the last 2 weeks or so to stop her labor and such. I brought that up with John last night and asked how that would work since if my calculations are right, and I went through the same thing, that would put me doing that sort of thing in the middle of peak. Peak is blacked out and no time off allowed regardless, not to mention he works 12+ hour days and that's when he earns the most money throughout the year. We REALLY need him to work. He looked at me and snapped saying, "I don't know I haven't filled out the paperwork yet." At that point I looked at him and didn't say another word.

Right now trying to discuss this with him is making him more like a snapping turtle than a supportive hubby. I know I was talking to him at the end of a LONG and frustrating day for him but still, he really didn't need to snap. After all he isn't the one going through the diabetes thing and going to have to test sugars 5 times a day and have appointments at least once a week. I know he has to put up with me and he is doing a great job at that since I am more crabby while prego but still. I feel like he has totally checked out of this part of the pregnancy and doesn't really want to discuss the fact that I have diabetes. I might as well have athletes foot the way he's going about it. Totally not caring or at least that's the way he's coming across.

On top of that, I researched a bit until I realized I should stop because I was just making myself more worried than I needed to be, that babies with mom's who don't have their diabetes controlled in the first few months of pregnancy have a higher risk for nural tube defects, and brain damage. I would die if I was undiagnosed with diabetes before we got pregnant and that it affected our baby and that I caused the baby to have any form of defects. So, yea John doesn't even know about that so who knows.

Overall he is great though. I don't want you to get the wrong impression that he doesn't care because he sure does!! He brings me my food every morning because he knows that I need food within minutes of waking up and knowing the kitchen makes me sick (to many smells). When I do get sick, he runs and gets a bowl for me just in case and turns on the fan and waits until it passes then helps me get food so that it doesn't come back. He really is a good hubby and has taken on more chores and helped with Aidan (making sure he is out of his nighttime diaper and in big boy underwear before he leaves for work). I just feel like he doesn't want to address something that could be major in this pregnancy and could TOTALLY affect this baby and every time we try and talk it ends with him getting frustrated and snapping like the snapping turtles. Oh well, I can always keep trying. He has to talk about it eventually. Otherwise its going to be a LONG 7 months until baby comes out.

Thanks for listening to me vent and complain about my sweet (most of the time ;) ) hubby. I had to get it off my chest. I'm sure this will all be resolved by this weekend sometime. After all we have to spend the weekend together. LOL!!! So, look for a blog later today or more than likely tomorrow about the 4th!!! Have a happy and safe 4th!!

Sad, sad news....BOO HOO HOO!!!

Ok, nothing major I promise or is it?? It all started when they asked me to do the glucose test at my 12 week appointment. I was a bit nervous about it. They said it was because Aidan was over 9#'s and because my BMI (body mass index) was over a certain point. I complied because of course I want to know if I am at risk or if I actually did have diabetes so that I could take care of myself and my unborn baby.

Long story short, I took the test on Monday morning after my appointment. I drank the nasty orange drink and thought I might lose my breakfast and got heartburn on top of that. Pretty picture I know but it happened. So I knew that I had to have my blood drawn an hour after I finished the nasty drink. So I drank it in the parking garage before my appointment. Aidan and my friends daughter that I'm watching this summer cheered me on. I had 5 minutes to down the nasty thing.

So I went to my appointment, Aidan had an accident, we HEARD the baby's heartbeat for the FIRST time!! That was the best part of the visit!! Then they gave me my lab slip so that I could get my blood drawn. Off we went. The first side they got the needle in the right spot but nothing came out at all. WEIRD!! I swear I am not an alien, or at least I don't think I am. Then another gal drew off the other side and sure enough magic!! It didn't even hurt when she poked me. The other side hurt though. Hmm, magic touch I think so.

Well last night I got the call from the midwife saying, "we got your lab results and please call so that we can go over them." It was 7pm when I got the message so I called at 8:02am. Not a minute later. Sure enough I was put straight through (the best part of calling at the time they open). So they like your sugars to be at 140, mine was are you ready for this?? 175!!! YIKES!! They said at 180 they don't hesitate to refer you. I had 2 options, just take the referral since I was so darn close or do the 3 hour test with 4 blood draws and more nasty drink. Guess what I took, the referral so now I get to do the "diabetic diet" and test my sugars and such. I don't know exactly what it will all entail, I'll post after that appointment, but as of now I am assuming at minimum it will be a diet change (what more can I change?? seriously) and possibly checking my sugars consistently. Just what I need another thing to do. UGH!!! Oh well, baby will be healthier because of it.

On the flip side they may do more u/s (ultrasounds) later in the pregnancy because of the diabetes. I was happy about that. The more opportunity to see my handsome OR beautiful child the better!! So yea that is what is going on with me!! Thinking about that lovely nasty drink makes me have heartburn...no fun. So, wish me luck as I start this journey of diabetes, let's hope that it doesn't continue after baby is born because I will be super sad if it does. Motivation to get in better shape after the little one is here?? I think so!! So here's what I am asking of all my 2 readers (if that). If anyone out there has or has had diabetes, gestational diabetes or has known anyone who has had it and can fill me in on what I'm up against that would be more than wonderful!! Either email or comment on here and let me know.

Oh and thank you for listening to me feel sorry for myself for a bit. I am giving myself today and maybe tomorrow to feel badly for myself and then I'm going to suck it up and get on with life. Can't feel badly for myself forever right?!! On the flip side I had the BEST sandwich on the face of the earth for lunch, it was a croissant and I put a bit of mayo and honey mustard on it then a bit of cheese and ham. Only thing missing was lettuce. So that was the best part of today so far. I'm tired haven't been sleeping well lately, to hot to and I have to use the bathroom ALL the stinking time. So, anyhoo, I think I still need something because apparently that sandwich didn't fill me up. I'm tempted to eat another but I think I'll opt for fruit first and see if that helps. I'll try and wait until we go in the pool for another sandwich so that I have something to help me last until dinner. Hope you are all having a wonderful summer!!
